Hayley & John (Wedding at Normanton Church followed by Barnsdale Hall Hotel)

Hayley&John-91I first met the lovely couple Hayley and John in Cafe Nero back in 2015 to discuss their wedding stationery. Once we got chatting they also booked me to do their wedding photography and as soon as I had met them, I couldn’t wait to get started! They had so many great ideas and such a lovely theme! (You can see the wedding invitations I designed for them on a previous blog post and throughout this post the stationery that was used on the day).

Hayley & John…

Hayley and John are both in the teaching profession and met many moons ago at Brockington College where they both worked. This was when their love story began!

On Monday 25th July they got married at Rutland’s most famous landmark, Normanton Church. The church is situated on the south-shore of Rutland Water. It was saved from the water and has become a stunning location for civil weddings and musical concerts. When the reservoir is full the church looks magical as it appears as though it is floating. As you can imagine, very scenic! So here’s a little about their day…

Bridal Prep…

The day started off beautiful with the sun peeking through the clouds with patches of blue sky. I started out with the lovely bride Hayley in the Winsor suite at Barnsdale Hall Hotel. The bridal party were getting ready in the drawing room when I arrived. The room has the most stunning views over Rutland Water and the natural light flooded through the main bay window lighting up the room. The light was perfect for some portrait shoots! Hayley wore a beautiful lace, beaded dress with a v-neckline by Forget me Not, and wore a delicate head piece that matched the detailing on the dress. To finish her bridal look, she had funky bridal shoes by Irregular Choice, handbag to match and clutched a beautiful bouquet of blush pink and cream roses with foliage. I had a wonderful morning, Hayley and the bridal party (Bev Hayley’s mum, Katie and Ruth) made me feel so welcome.Hayley and John review

The Ceremony…

John arrived at the Normanton with Jake and James in a Rolls Royce Silver Spur and greeted guests on their arrival. Guests got seated quickly in the church and it soon filled. The light was streaming in through the windows on either side of the church. The music began to play and the bridal party started to walk down the aisle. The bride looked gorgeous and the look on John’s face as he saw Hayley was just pure delight. The marriage was on the bank side of the church under the most beautiful dome with a golden archway. It was a lovely ceremony, friends (Julie & Ann Marie) did a reading and played the viola as Hayley and John signed the registers. After the service, guests made their way outside and bubbles were blown as Hayley and John walked out, there were smiles and laughter all around.

The afternoon…

While guests made their way to Barnsdale Hall Hotel, I was able to take some couple shots of Hayley and John at the church before making our way over too. The main hall was decorated beautifully. There was handmade bunting, small and large vases of gorgeous flowers on each table, each table was named after a tea or coffee, every guest had a cute little teabag neatly wrapped as their wedding favour and an illustrated place card that matched the table plan and the table numbers. The sun came out for the rest of the afternoon and guests celebrated till late in the evening, dancing the night away.

It was a beautiful day, enjoyed by all. Having the family stay in the Winsor Suite the night before and the night of the wedding made it extra special for Hayley and John. A big thank you to Hayley and John for letting me design and create your wedding stationery and capture your story through my photography… I thoroughly enjoyed it!
